A Creative, Summertime Family Photoshoot by a Tucson Family Photographer
There is something about summer that feels nostalgic. It’s a season for making memories and celebrating the wonder of childhood. What better way to capture a summer family session than in a driveway covered in chalk? Family sessions with me are all about capturing your real memories. I loved this idea of embracing the everyday joys of summertime for your family pictures!
The Walters Family kindly invited me to their cozy cul-de-sac to permanently capture their summer memories. They are a family of four (going on five) who knows how to play! They are such a down to earth family. With a new little one on the way, the Walters know that time is precious. It’s best spent having fun with the people you love the most and savoring every second of it.
An At-Home Summer Family Session
A driveway may not seem like the most conventional location for a summer family session. But that’s what I loved the most about it! Your driveway is the homebase for bike rides, chalk art, sprinkler fun and summer memories. Having a session photographed at your own home makes the entire experience more relaxed for the whole family. You and your kiddos can play and just be yourselves. The most treasured photos are the one that capture your family authentically!
Styling doesn’t have to be over the top for your family session. Embrace your family’s style and unique personality. You want your photos to feel like they’re your family pictures! I helped the Walters put together a few relaxed but coordinated outfits that they already had in their closets. They worked beautifully for a casual summer family session!
Think Outside the Box for Your Family Session
Don’t get me wrong, I love beautiful family pictures taken at golden hour in the park. But I also love family sessions that are more creative and go against the grain! Something as simple and fun as hanging out in your driveway can produce beautiful results. These are the types of sessions that really capture your loved ones as they are.
I know the Walters will look back on this summer with fond memories. Christina will see her boys with chalk covered hands, sticky popsicle faces and wet toes from the water hose and be instantly brought back to this season of their life. I believe that real life is just as beautiful as the highlights we often share.
